My iPod is Limping
Friday, June 17th, 2005I think my iPod is on its last legs. I have had it for around 3+ years now and I think it has served its useful life. Day by day it is playing music, but only out of one ear. So, slowly I am going deaf in only one ear. I guess that’s a good thing, right?
The hard drive in it appears to be working just fine and I’ll probably use it to backup my photos or something, but the sound it outputs is really starting to drive me mad. The headphone jack is all screwed up. I have to fiddle with it to get sound out of both ears, but sustaining that is nothing short of a challenge. Now, the probelm is that I just got a new camera… so I might have to wait a while for this little guy.
I guess until then I’ll just alternate ears every day. That way I’ll go deaf evenly.

Aaaw, haha. Yeah, it’s really time you get a new one. I mean as great as your alternating-ears plan is…

I hope you’re doing ok with the loss. My Ipod is slowly starting to do the same thing… I’m hoping that it will last until I get to france and then I wont’really need it until I head home! Then will hopefully get a new one before the next school year (like 14 months away). Should be cheaper by then too, and smaller!

Ah yes, I read about this, but I don’t think that my parents still have the receipt! It was a gift for Christmas about 3 years ago and I don’t know if they still have it or not. I guess that means that I should check it out.

Or…the InfoCrew can have a “___ sale”. Let me know when that happens. Or if there’s a donation bin somewhere….hehehe

My iPod (3G, 30Gb) is really limping along too, although for a different reason. I’m getting absolutely horrible battery life (~3.5 hours). I don’t feel like I use it enough to justify getting a new battery or a whole new iPod though. I guess it is still very functional as a portable harddrive.
Maybe the iPod shuffle would be more of what I’d actually use on a day-to-day basis?
