UW| The Gathering

Last night I had some of the guys over from Clan UW. We haven’t meet up in quite some time. They really just wanted an excuse to see my new place, so I let them in to check it out. The night really started around 7pm and lasted until about 1am. It was a damn good time and I hope that everybody there felt the same way. The night mainly consisted of the following:

  • Lots of Hamburgers
  • Madden
  • Texas Hold ’em Poker
  • Quality Conversation

What made this even cooler was that I got to meet two of the guys for the first time. Manny, and Postal (Matt) made it out to the event and it was really cool to hang out with them. I didn’t recognize Matt at first, but needless to say he was really cool to finally meet in person. As for Manny, this was really cool because he made the trip all of the way for Oregon to hang out with us for the night.

I had a really good time and I don’t really know how to put it into words. Ed has done a good job putting the night’s events (w/ pics) into words. I had a really good time and now I have this yearning to play some more poker. It has been a while since I have played and now I think I am catching the bug again. Of course, I like to play a lot more when there is no money involved.

Wish I had more to say since the night was really fun, but I don’t. Yes, disappointment, I know. But, do not fear! More will be written in the future when more of these UW| events occur.

Our Typical User

Last night Jamie and I were trading stories of the various people that we run into when we are at work. It is interesting to note how many oddball characters there are in our lab. This is not to say that there are not legitimate people that we do help, but we do get our hand full of people who are just plain inconsiderate, crazy, and have no damn idea what they are doing. I’ve filtered them into the following categories:

  • The Average User
  • The Foreign Language Barrier User
  • The Just Come Here User
  • The It’s Not Printing User
  • The Last Minute User
  • The I Did Not Know User
  • The ZIP Disk User
  • The CD-Rs are Like Floppies User

Randomness

I can’t say that I have had much to talk about the past few days. I guess some items of note are:

  • 498 “studying” plus booble with Trevor, Kevin, Anthony, and Jamie
  • Getting free lunch from Kidd Valley because I moved chairs
  • Taking a test in securities and realizing that it isn’t exactly what you studied

Yeah, I don’t know what else to write. I’m bored in the TE lab and waiting to meet with the Capstone 4. Yeah, still not really sure what we are going to do, but I am not that worried. Oh well, guess I should do something productive… or something.
