Feeling the Past

For some reason, right now, I am in this state that I can’t really describe. But, as you read on, you’ll find out that I try to do it anyways. Go figure.

It has to do with my past. It has to do with pre-Washington Ryan. It has to deal with who I know in Minnesota and the times that we used to share. It is not about any one person, but a group of people, my friends. Continue reading “Feeling the Past”

22 Hours in Wenatchee

IMG_5278From Friday night at 9pm until Saturday night at 7pm, Jamie and I spent those 20 hours in Wenatchee. The reason that we went was to go and see the Apple Blossom Parade on Saturday afternoon. This is just one part of the Apple Blossom Festival that is held in Wenatchee. Heading over to central Washington was something that I had only done once before, but the last time I did that was four years ago going from Spokane to Seattle. So, I don’t have the greatest vision of what it’s like on the other side of the Cascades. However, I had a really good time, despite the limited time that I was able to spend there. Thank You Flickr!

As you know I purchased a Flickr Pro account in January and love it. Well, today Flickr lowered the price for a pro account to $24.95 a year (see article). That’s good and all for those of you that don’t have one and want one. But, I already have one… so, what do they do? Well, I now get my pro account for 2 years plus they gave me 2 invites to give out to anybody for a year of Flickr pro. And on top of that, the limits for a free account went to 20mb from 10mb and pro limits from 1gb to 2gb! Guess it’s time to take some more pictures!

What to Tip?

When milling through Fark today I came across an article in the Star Tribune, “Restaurant tipping points“. I was thinking that this article would be about what is the proper way to tip those that serve you when dining out. Instead it was about how the people that serve you try to get back at you and what they think you, their customer, should be tipping. So, that made me think about what do I think about when I go to tip somebody for service done when dining out. Continue reading “What to Tip?”

Networking

I can say that my life has been less and less exciting since I graduated. It is not that I have had nothing going on, but nothing that really stands out as something worthy of writing. But, one thing that I have been putting off, not without thought though, is networking. Stephanie and I are curious on how we all stay in touch after graduation. We have built quite the community over the past year and a half and it would be a shame to see it all vanish.

So, Ryan, what did you have in mind?

Honestly, I really don’t know. I mean, I like blogs, but I know that some people don’t like blogging. I also kept tossing around the idea of a hosted site that could be used for the 4th cohort to stay in contact. It could aggregate blog, flickr, whatever, feeds of information and present it. I think that would be pretty cool. It could also store contact information and whatnot, really whatever we wanted. But, I am only one of many in this and I’m curious if people are interested in such a thing. I think that it would be cool to have, even more so after we all start to move apart in physical locations.

What I’m looking for is some sort of constructive feedback on what people would like to see, or if they would like to see nothing done at all. But, if you have something to offer to the plate, let me know! I want to know what you would use such a site for. Would it be like other networking packages out there? Do we just use one of those that are already made? Or do we make something more customized? Any constructive thoughts that you have would be a great help!
