Well… Well…

I can’t say that I’ve been up to nothing for the past couple weeks, I just made the decision to cut off my digital ties as much as possible. But, now I’m back to the regular digital lifestyle. It was nice to step away and head back to Minnesota for a little bit. I just did nothing. I really did, all you have to do is ask my Mom. I sat around and did nothing. Well, played the PS2 for a bit, but that’s about it. It was a much needed break away from everything. But, now I’m back in Washington and getting ready to start work next Wednesday. All I Want Is My Paperwork

Well, I have finally submitted my federal taxes as well as my state taxes for Minnesota. It was really painless to use e-file. This is the second year that I have done my taxes this way. E-file is one use of technology that I think really makes something easier. But, now that both of my filings have been accepted, I want to print off the PDF copies of my paperwork. I have the copies from last year and you should always keep a paper copy for your records. However, when I tried to get the PDF, which is embedded in the webpage *shakes fist*, my web browser frose. Yup, I got Firefox to freeze. So, I decided to use Internet Explorer to see if that would work. I only did this knowing that it had better embedded PDF support. The almighty IE should work, right?

Well… I was wrong. I crashed both of them on my PC. So, onto my Mac to save the day. Yup, my Powerbook has the paperwork on it since my PC can’t handle it. I used to be annoyed at the way OS X handled PDFs. I guess, for today, it saved me the hassle of finding yet another alternative to getting the paperwork for my tax filings. Now I can rest knowing that I have copies. I guess the only next best thing is knowing that I wouldn’t need them in the future.

Avanade Update

Jules,

Avanade called and so far so good. They should call back next week with more details. I’ll keep you posted.

For those of you who are not Jules, see above.

In other news… I’m off to Cannon Beach for the weekend.

Job Search Update

Well, due the fact that I can’t think of something more original to blog, I am going to blog about the recent happenings in my job search.

As of today there are three options still open on the table: Google, Avanade, and Safeco. I heard back from Safeco and I was invited back for a second, all day interview, in a week and a half. This should be pretty cool, despite the creepy fact that they called me at work to ask if I could do it on another day. Continue reading “Job Search Update”

When I Say Taco, I Mean Taco

Yesterday, when a group of us went to lunch down by the water, I think I had my worst Mexican food experience ever. Well, maybe not ever, but I can’t remember one where I was more dissapointed and left so unsatisified. Now, it might be that Aqua Verde just isn’t your typical Mexican place. But, when I order something, I think I have some expectation on what I will be served. However, yesterday, I was not served anything that I expected.

Now, I guess I don’t know if I actually got the food that I ordered. There were mixups at the takeout window and when we got our food you had no idea where on the menu you could find it. I mean, all of it looked the same. It was either meat, lettue, some sour cream, and cheese on top of some tostadas OR you had all of that on a bun (sans tostadas). I mean, like Jamie said, this is Mexican food for hippies. I wanted tacos, not stuff on tostadas. *sigh* Well, I guess it is just not my place.

I’m going to advocate against going to Aqua Verde, but the two times that I have been there I have left dissapointed with no desire to return. This time, I think, it has been solidified in my mind that I no longer wish to travel down to the crappy Mexican place down by the water. I’d rather go elsewhere.
